ISTE Standards for Learners

ISTE Standards for Learners

The ISTE Standards for Students are designed to empower student voice and ensure that learning is a student-driven process. Connect with other educators in the ISTE Standards Community and learn how to use the standards in the classroom with the ISTE Standards for Students ebook.

As a future educator, I possess the following ISTE standards: Digital citizen, innovative designer, creative communicator and global collaborator

Digital Citizenship

"Digital Citizenship needs to be embraced by educators as a way of thinking—and incorporated, whenever possible, into any type of existing curriculum."

For me digital citizen help me to go beyond my work more productive and efficient.
A person who develops the skill and knowledge to effectively use the Internet and other digital technology, especially in order to participate responsibly in social and civic activities. We must teach these skills and guide students to experience situations where they apply knowledge. It help our students to learn, communicate and collaborate safely and responsibly. So, when students are so close to the tech, they must know or examine the impact of their online activity.Citizenship is what we do to fulfill our role as a citizen. That role starts as soon as we click on the internet.

Innovative Designer

Being innovative designer, I come with solutions or ideas for my projects and problems very uniquely. Innovation implies that students must come up with something new or original and is often associated with great improvements to the way of life. I will develop this to my future students by starting with activities with simple questions, “Tell us what waves do?” “Show us how a chemical reaction works.” and “Is our local stream healthy?” Although such questions are derived from traditional activities, students can take ownership of each question when they choose their path and add purpose to their work. I should encourage my students to be motivated by their successes and learn from their practices, but we must establish a classroom culture and norms that allow students to experience innovation in their own right. Finally, students also need to develop a tenacious approach to these problems so they demonstrate grit. When that happens, we begin to see innovation.

Creative Communicator

Creative communicator through lots of people surrounding me has help me gain my confidence. It allows me to create good camaraderie among my peers. As a future teacher, we need an effective communication among our students. Also, teachers communicate to create motivation between the students. The creative communication aims expression in an original manner and facilitates better understanding of the message. A creative community primarily means to think creatively. Whether it is in relationships with colleagues or in family contexts, the quality of communication with others depends on the quality of thought. The teacher is the artist that shape and stimulates creative thinking child it depends on the children’s development. The contemporary education must be adapted to the age of children to stimulate their interest and to achieve goals. In my opinion, this means the combination of some elements of the game, good cheer, with useful information about the life and activities of children everywhere. When students learn differently, become more creative, more motivated, aware that they can claim their work, they can cooperate with others that have different learning opportunities in new contexts.

Creativity is so delicate flower that eulogy makes it bloom while discouragement often a choke, even before he could turn into a flower. “
-Alex Osborn

Global Collaborator

In today’s globalized world, it is essential to know how to collaborate with people from different cultures. Working across cultures is likely to push you out of your comfort zone. “We all have our own cultural lens that we’ve developed since we were kids. It is useful until we come into contact with someone with a different lens,” says Javidan. Being a global collaborator you must set aside the differences. It makes you a diverse person because of your flexibility among the people. After students begin to understand the perspectives of others, the second strategy is to have them conduct science inquiry with global communities, where they work together, share results, compare-contrast data, and evaluate their findings.
